THE first new speakers' corner in London for 150 years will open in Walthamstow this week.
The platform in Stoneydown Park was the idea of the Speakers' Corner Trust, which developed the plans with with the Friends of Stoneydown Park group, local schools and residents.
It was designed by students from Central St Martins College of Art & Design, with building work carried out by Waltham Forest Council.
A special event will be held at the park on Friday where speakers young and old will be airing their views on a range of subjects.
