CHILDREN learnt about healthy eating the fun way with a special reading, writing and craft session.
As part of Family Learning Day, Loughton Library, in Traps Hill, put on an afternoon of activities themed around the popular children's book The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
After reading the story of the caterpillar's quest to become a butterfly, the children took part in a quiz and made a bug-based collage.
There was also plenty of healthy food on offer to eat, and a special visit from a bee and the hungry caterpillar, himself.
Library customer services supervisor Julia Trew said: “We had about 60 families and all the fruit went from the food tasting table. They enjoyed all the craft activities and all the children especially enjoyed meeting the bugs.”
