THE district council has called for more public interest in the idea of an elected mayor after a poor initial response to its consultation.
Epping Forest District Council announced in August it was launching a public consultation on whether it should be governed by an elected mayor but so far less than 100 people have responded to its call.
The council is currently run by a cabinet and a leader elected by councillors while a mayor would be elected by residents to serve for a four year period.
Residents can fill out the consultation form online at eppingforestdc.gov.uk or request a form by writing to Ian Willett, Civic Offices, High Street, Epping, Essex, CM16 4BZ
