A RENOWNED name in the jazz world will be the special guest at a school concert.

Award winning jazz musician and composer John Altman will be the special guest as Bancroft's School hosts its second reunion charity concert early next year.

Altman has worked with many of the biggest names in rock and jazz either as conductor, arranger or playing his saxophone.

His work for film and TV has earned him many awards and nominations, including Grammy, Emmy and BAFTA awards.

Organising the concert at the Woodford Green school is staff member Debbie Mittel.

She said the response to the Bancroft’s Swingers first reunion concert, held three years ago, was fantastic with a packed hall, and over £2,000 being raised for Haven House Children’s Hospice.

The event will be on Saturday January 8 in the Great Hall at Bancroft’s School, from 7.30pm.

All profits will be donated to local charity St Clare Hospice, which provides care services to support people with life threatening and terminal illnesses.

Tickets are £10 each and available by emailing njt999@hotmail.com or calling 01279 506969.
