A SCHOOL has been been praised for its “welcoming and friendly service” by Ofsted inspectors.

Normanhurst School's nursery department was rated as 'good', the second highest rating available.

In the first inspection of the early years service, the school in Station Road, Chingford, was praised for good leadership, engagement with parents and carers, and children's enjoyment of learning.

Inspectors found the school was outstanding at safeguarding children and ensuring they make a positive contribution.

The report said: “Young children show an extremely strong sense of belonging in the setting. They settle well and are confident and self-assured.

“The nursery offers a welcoming and friendly service. Overall outcomes related to young people's progress are good.

“Resources are fit for purpose and able to support young children's learning and development.”

Inspectors said the school could improve information between teachers and parents by notifying them sooner about what children can do before their starting dates.
