A BRAVE doctor has been made an MBE in the New Year Honours list.

Dr Sanjoy Kumar, from Woodford Green, was recognised for his work as a forensic medical examiner for the police.

In February 2009, Dr Kumar spoke to the Guardian about the moment three teenage stab victims burst into his surgery, at the Larkshall Medical Centre in Chingford.

He and his staff battled to save the lives of the three youngsters before they could be transferred to hospital.

Dr Kumar has also worked extensively with violent patients for Waltham Forest Primary Care Trust.

He won ‘Doctor of the Year’ at the Redbridge Community Awards in 2008.
