A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman died in a house fire.
The body of Fiza Asif, 27, was found in her home in Palmerston Road, Walthamstow, at 8.50pm on January 4.
A post mortem was inconclusive and the death is still being treated as unexplained.
A man was arrested this morning and is still being questioned.
Neighbours told the Guardian that the woman and her partner lived with another couple and a number of children.
No-one else was in the property at the time of the fire. This cause is still not known.
Police are still appealing for witnesses to the fire, or anyone with information regarding the death, to come forward.
Detective Chief Inspector Phil Rickells said: "My thoughts and sympathies go out to the family who have lost a loved one in this tragic incident.
"A comprehensive fire and forensic investigation continues at the scene and will continue for some time.
"If you were in or around Palmerston Road, Walthamstow, between 8.20pm and 9pm on Tuesday January 4 and have any information about the fire or noticed any vehicles or people in the area please contact the incident room."
