MILLIONS of people are predicted to watch the Royal Wedding next month, but in one corner of Walthamstow all eyes will be on another celebrity couple's happy day.

Staff at the Nag's Head pub in Orford Road have announced that their beloved tabby cat Billie is to wed the neighbour's moggie Harvey on Friday April 29 at a glittering public ceremony.

The event - which will be attended by smartly dressed pub regulars and even a dog dressed as best man - is being held following a whirlwind romance between the pair in recent months.

It also handily coincides with the pub's second-ever cat-themed beer festival, which will run from Thursday April 28 until the Bank Holiday Monday and feature a wide variety of ales including Cat Nap, Old Curiosity and Wild Cat.

Owner Flossie Parsons said she expected a large turnout for the alternative wedding.

She said: "It's all tongue in cheek but the cats do love each other ever so much. Harvey spends all his time here in the pub, he practically lives here now.

"We're all a bit cat obsessed here but it is a bit of fun. We're going to have a cake and everyone is going to dress up.

"We've had a lot of interest - we haven't put the posters up yet but I've had customers coming up to me saying they'll be wearing their best suits and hats for it - it's going to be great."

However there are fears that the groom Harvey, five, may have cold feet.

Ms Parsons added: "He normally comes to the pub every day and his owners are coming but we can't be sure if he'll actually turn up. So it'll be more like a reception party and we'll say he's off planning the honeymoon if he doesn't quite make it on the day.”
