DICK Turpin's legendary ride from Epping to York is to be recreated by a man on a bicycle.
Dale Nichol, who runs theatrical production company Dale Entertainment Productions, will begin the 209-mile journey from outside Epping Town Hall at 11am on Thursday April 7, the date of Turpin's execution in York. Doncaster-based Dale aims to raise enough money to make a film about Turpin's life, and will be selling £5 tickets for aspiring actors to submit a guess of how long they believe the journey will take him.
Everyone who guesses is guaranteed an audition; the person who guesses most accurately is guranteed a paid role.
Dale said: “The bicyle is comparable with the speed of a horse, however I've not been on one for years so I will be truly tested. I will be holding auditions for parts in my movie in Epping in June this year, but if Epping people would like an audition earlier then feel free to contact me sooner.”
