THE lake where the severed arms of a murdered taxi driver were discovered is being searched by police divers.

The arms of father-of-five Anthony Whitefield, 47, were found in Roding Valley Lake, off Greensted Road, Loughton, more than a month ago and the fire service started draining the lake on April 16 so the police could search for more remains.

The water is now low enough for police to start their search using sonar technology.

More body parts belonging to Mr Whitefield were found at the Hanson Drive home of suspect Douglas Binet, 53, earlier in the month, although police have so far refused to say what these are for ‘operational’ reasons.

Mr Binet is due to appear at Chelmsford Crown Court charged with Mr Whitefield’s murder on June 22.
