A LOCAL MP will be gunged at a funday to raise money for a children's project.

Nick Hurd, Conservative MP for Ruislip and Northwood, has agreed to be gunged in the name of charity to help raise cash for the Ruislip Youth Project (RYP).

The project, run by local mum, Wendy Wiggins, aims to raise enough funds to create a drop-in centre and nightclub in South Ruislip for children and teenagers.

The fun kicks of at noon on Sunday, September 3, at Ruislip Manor Football Club.

Attractions include live bands, DJ, disco, stalls, a funfair, barbeque, quad bikes, bucking bronco and a sponsored bungy jump.

The RYP has been busy all year organising petitions to increase road safety in the area, as well as carrying out litter collections in Mount Pleasant park.

The group held its first fun day to raise funds in February this year.

Wendy Wiggins, who has organised this year's event, said: "The aim is for them to have somewhere they are part of, where they will be totally involved in the putting together of this great project, designing and the running of it.

"Their involvment and input will, in time, get others interested and off the streets into a safe environment where they can socialise.

"We want to change local perceptions of teenagers as all being troublemakers and show the community they can help to build a better community for all, their input is vital if someone just listens and supports them."

Nick Hurd said: "I encourage everyone to come along to the Ruislip Youth Project fun day. It is a great cause and a unique opportunity to throw baked beans at your MP"

The funday will run from noon to 11pm. For more information, call Wendy on 020 8845 2919.
