ONE HUNDRED children will play their recorders tomorrow night at a music festival.
Children aged between nine and 11, from seven Redbridge schools including Snaresbrook Primary School and Churchill Junior School, will perform songs such as William Tell and Greensleeves at St Mary’s Church, High Road, South Woodford at 7pm on Tuesday (May 24).
They will then don sunglasses for a bluesy number before their teachers give a rendition of Swing Low, Sweet Chariot at the annual Recorder Festival.
Daniel Swani, 12, and Amy Sugarman, 18, of Redbridge Music School, will give solo performances.
The music school’s teacher and event organiser, Maggie Goble, said: “It’s going to be fantastic. The kids are all excited and so are we, there will be a lot of good songs. It’s a chance for us to show what the recorder can do.”
Tickets can be bought on the door for £5 or £4 concessions.
