GENEROUS donors have helped to raise more than £2,000 to save lives at sea.

The Loughton and Woodford branch of the Royal National Lifeboat Institute (RNLI) raised £2,125 through a week of street collections.

Another £137 was added to the total with a night organised by the newly-formed Loughton Folk Club.

The chairman of the RNLI branch, Mike Evans, said: “The street collection in Loughton alone was £455.

“We’re grateful all the way round. It’s a nice boost and it will go to HQ for whatever it’s needed for.”
