THE Countess of Wessex heard about the work done by a hospice and spoke to patients on a recent visit.
Prince Edward's wife, Sophie, was given a tour of St Clare Hospice in Hastingwood, near Epping, by its director of patient care, Tanya Curry, on Wednesday.
Ms Curry said: “The visit was all about Her Royal Highness the Countess of Wessex meeting our patients, families and staff and seeing what fantastic services as a hospice we are able to offer the local community.
“Everyone who had the opportunity to meet her was absolutely thrilled.”
Her Royal Highness spoke to patient Margaret Rafferty, who said: “When I came to the hospice, I never expected to meet the Countess of Wessex - she is lovely. I’ve never met royalty before.”
