GOLFERS raised £150,000 for good causes at a charity event last week.

More than 100 players took part in the Redbridge Aid Golf Society (RAGS) Day at the Abridge Golf Club on June 30.

The Redbridge Jewish Community Care Centre at Sinclair House in Woodford Bridge Road, will benefit to the tune of £135,000 from money raised at the event, with the remaining £15,000 being split between other charitable organisations.

RAGS Chairman, Lloyd Green, said: “We have raised £150,000, which in the current economic climate is not only an outstanding achievement , but also a credit to all those who have given to this charity.”

And the golfers didn’t stop at £150,000, as RAGS member Stanley Perry, raffled off a pair of diamond earrings on the day, raising a further £1,100 for charity.

Jewish Care’s Deputy President Dame Gail Ronson DBE, received the a cheque on behalf of the charity.

She said: “The support we have received from RAGS has been remarkable, and will go a long way in helping us realise our hopes for the future of Sinclair House. “Your support today will ensure we can continue to meet the needs of all those who rely on the centre.”
