GIRL GUIDES joined more than 4,000 others to walk across some of London’s famous bridges for charity.

The 1st Aldborough Hatch Guides group of 20 girls, aged between ten and 14, raised more than £500 on Saturday, July 9.

The money is for Joshua’s Journey, a charity funding specialist therapies for a one-year-old boy with cerebral palsy and epilepsy.

The girls not only completed the challenge, but took charge of it too, deciding which of the eight bridges to cross and what route to take, and witnessed some stunning views of the Thames and famous landmarks like the London Eye.

Frances Dignon, 15, from Ilford, said: "We really enjoyed the walk, even though it meant getting up early on a Saturday. We took lots of photos so that we could remember all the fun that we had.

"On the way home we felt the pain of all the walking a little bit, but it was worth it as we were raising money for a very good cause."

Thousands of others also took part in the event from guide groups acorss London and the South east.

The girls each received a medal upon completion of the challenge, which encouraged walking as well as developing confidence and encouraging the girls to voice their opinions.
