CCTV images of five people suspected of taking part in rioting and looting in Waltham Forest have been released.

They show four men and one woman on Monday August 8 in what appears to be a supermarket, although police have been unable to say where in the borough the footage was taken.

The force has also been unable to say when on Monday the clips were filmed or anything about the shop.

A spokeswoman for the Met said it had so many images of riot suspects across London that it has been "unable to pinpoint where they were taken" or provide further information to the public.

All the suspects are wanted on suspicion of burglary.

More than 50 businesses in Waltham Forest were attacked in the violent disorder last week.

A total of 62 people have been arrested in connection with the disorder in the borough but police have been unable to say how many have been charged.

A Met spokesman said: "If anyone recognises individuals in the photographs, has any information about the violence and disorder that has occurred or their own images or footage they would like to pass to Operation Withern they should contact the Major Investigation Team on 020 8345 4142.

"Alternatively anyone can report crime and provide information anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
