A CELEBRATION of the humble cucumber and its contribution to the district’s economy will be held next weekend.
The Great British Cucumber Festival will take place at Abbey Gardens, Waltham Abbey, on Saturday, September 17 from noon until 4pm.
The event will mark the fact that 75 per cent of the UK’s cucumbers are grown in the Lee Valley and will feature cucumber tasting, a tea room serving cucumber sandwiches and a music stage.
Entry is free.
