MEASURES to clamp down on street drinking will not be extended into Wanstead and Woodford.
Police were given powers to seize alcohol from street drinkers in Ilford at a meeting of the council’s cabinet last (Tuesday).
But the authority has confirmed there is no plan to introduce the measures in South Woodford.
A spokeswoman said: “At the moment there is no evidence that there is a street drinking problem in the north of the borough.”
South Woodford has recently been declared a cumulative impact zone, which requires landlords to prove they will not contribute to anti-social behaviour in the area if they want to change their licences.
