A WOMAN who has worked tirelessly to support victims of sexual and domestic violence over the last three decades has been honoured by the mayor of London.
Chris Casey, who founded The Haven centre in Leyton High Road back in 1982, was awarded the Londoner's Peace Award accolade by Boris Johnson at a ceremony in City Hall.
The centre, which does not receive any council funding, offers help to both male and female victims, many of whom are referred there by police.
Ms Casey said: "I was really thrilled to be nominated and recognised for my lifetime's work."
The award honours individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to their community.
