A SERIES of free Christmas lunches will be held for elderly resident across the borough.
A traditional silver service festive feast will be served for 170 senior citizens at Leyton Orient FC's stadium in Brisbane Road, Leyton, on December 7, 200 at Chingford Assembly Hall in Station Road, Chingford, on December 8 and 430 on December 9 at Walthamstow Assembly Hall in Forest Road, Walthamstow.
Waltham Forest Council, which is providing the lunches, consulted voluntary groups and care homes when deciding the format for the events and those interested in attending then applied for a place through the council or where nominated for a place by friends, family, and the local community.
