POLICE are appealing for information after a schoolgirl was molested on a bus.
The 16-year-old was assaulted after boarding a 275 double-decker at Woodford Station going towards Walthamstow at around 4.10pm on Monday (December 5).
She sat on the lower deck next to an Asian man who inappropriately touched her, according to police.
The teenage alerted the driver and also rang her mother.
She got off the bus soon after at Chingford Lane, near the junction with Mill Lane just over the border in Waltham Forest, but her attacker also got off.
But her mother was waiting and alerted a passing motorist, who chased the man in the direction of Chingford Hatch.
Police were also called but the man escaped.
He is described as Asian and about five foot seven tall.
He is aged between 28 to 30 years, and was wearing a khaki jacket with a black and white scarf.
He has short black hair.
Detective constable Rob Teague of Waltham Forest Police is investigating.
He said: "We are very keen to speak to the people who were on the bus and that they have vital information in relation to this investigation."
Those with information can call him on 020 3276 0967. To remain anonymous, contact CrimeStoppers on 0800 555 111.
The 275 bus runs between Barkingside and Walthamstow Central. It is popular with pupils from Woodbridge High School in the Woodford Green area.
