CHARITY workers met TV star Dermot O’Leary at a quiz to raise money for impoverished people in the developing world.

The X-Factor presenter hosted the event at the Emirates Stadium in north London on Thursday, December 1, to raise money for the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development (CAFOD) charity.

Joanna Jarvis, 50, and Denise Grierson, 51, who are managers of the Brentwood Diocese branch of CAFOD and are based at Chigwell Convent in Chigwell Road, helped to organise the event and got to meet the star there.

Mrs Grierson said: “He is lovely and so genuinely warm. After the quiz he came and visited all of the tables and chatted to everyone.”

Anyone wishing to donate money to the charity is asked to visit their website at www.cafod.org.uk, where a range of gifts such as livestock and disaster warning kits are available to buy for communities in developing countries.
