POLICE are still hunting a car thief who escaped following a high speed chase.
Officers aided by a police helicopter swooped on the Coppermill Lane, Walthamstow, at around 12.25pm on Friday (February 3) after pursuing the vehicle from nearby Mission Grove.
A police spokesman said the driver had failed to respond to a request to stop after he was spotted driving at speed.
He left his vehicle in Coppermill Lane and ran off. Two men, aged 26 and 23, were found in the back of the vehicle and arrested.
It was then established that the car was stolen but the men were later released without charge. The driver, thought to be a 23-year-old man, is still at large.
