A FREE event offering older residents advice on keeping warm during the current cold snap is being held next week.
Waltham Forest Council and Age UK have joined forces to host the help day at The Greenway centre in Greenway Avenue, Walthamstow, on Wednesday February 15 between 11am and 3pm.
Free slippers will be available along with tea and coffee while stocks last.
Those on Pension Credit can also collect free ‘ice grippers’ and warm clothing upon presentation of their award letter from the government.
Information on lowering fuel bills and benefits will also be available.
For more information contact Age UK Waltham Forest on 020 8558 8716 or HEET on 020 8520 1900.
Waltham Forest’s Cabinet Member for Adults and Older People, Cllr Angie Bean, urged neighbours, friends and relatives of elderly residents to help them during the cold weather.

Greenway Avenue - exactly how many buses actually stop outside that building? Anywhere within 300 yards? 500 yards?
Does Cllr Bean realise it's totally inacccessible by public transport for those Needy enough to get right to the building unaided?
Why didn't the Guardian reporter notice this and question the publicity hand-out straight away?
