COMMUTERS were forced to walk along train tracks when a Tube train was stopped due to the snow.
People aboard the eastbound Central line train endured a two-hour wait at Snaresbrook station for the service to resume after the snow caused signal failures at 9pm on Saturday, February 4.
But they had to walk for ten minutes to the next stop, South Woodford, at about 11.30pm, when they were told the line was suspended between Leytonstone and Hainault.
Naomi Bridge wrote on Twitter: “stuck on a central line train between Snaresbrook & s woodford for over an hour babies crying having to walk on tracks.”
Another passenger, Venus Ahmed, tweeted: “So it's a 10 minute walk to south woodford. Guys in walking on train tracks. Toes are gone.”
Nigel Holness, London Underground’s network services director, said: “Some services, mainly in open outlying areas, have been disrupted due to the sheer volume of snow fall.
“On Saturday night four trains that were experiencing difficulties had to be de-trained. Around 100 passengers were escorted from those trains by our staff and taken short distances to stations rather than leave them on the trains for extended periods.”
