CHINGFORD: Developer applies to demolish municipal offices CHINGFORD: Developer applies to demolish municipal offices

A PROPERTY developer has applied for permission to demolish Chingford Municipal Offices.

The bid by Fairview New Homes Ltd does not include the former town hall building at the site.

The council-owned complex, in The Ridgeway, was sold to the company in December.

A council briefing for potential buyers recommended there is space for 150 to 250 flats in buildings of up to four storeys high, although Fairview has not commented publicly on its plans for the land.

Its amazing how this socialist council is caving in..they should be voted out. Central government cuts the support grant..councils become cash strapped, sells off its land and allows four story blocks of flats developments all over the borough so it can avail its self of the new homes bonus offered by the government.

Yet again one wearily asks: Where are these people going to work?

We don't need more people living in the borough, we need more facilities that benefit those who already do and the area in general.

Perhaps it would be better off becoming a youth centre of some kind to keep young people off the streets (and not loitering outside the co-op/fish and chip shop) after school.
