WALTHAMSTOW: Dangerous dog seized

A DANGEROUS dog has been seized.

The pit bull, which had been registered as a banned breed by Waltham Forest Council in 2008, was taken from an address in Wood Street, Walthamstow, after its owner took it out without a muzzle.

It is the 99th dangerous dog seized by the council since June 2010. the authority also issued 82 penalties for dog control order offences and 28 search warrants over the same period.

Five dogs of banned breeds have also had extra controls places upon them.

A six-year-old girl had half her right ear ripped off by a black and white Staffordshire bull terrier in a park in Chingford on January 21.

The dog’s owner, Gary Hindley, has pleaded guilty to owning a to allowing a dog to be dangerously out of control in a public place and causing injury.

He is to be sentenced on February 13, with the dog’s future also to be decided on that date. It is being kept in kennels until its fate is decided.
