WALTHAM Forest has the highest rate of homelessness in England, according to new Government figures.
A total of 232 people were assessed by the council as being without a home between October and December 2011, the latest figures available which were released today (Thursday March 8).
The rate, of 2.55 per 1,000 people, is the highest in the country.
It comes just days after a report suggested the borough had the fourth highest risk of households experiencing child poverty in the UK.
