MOTHERS have banded together to gain support and money for a better play area in their village.

The group Ongar Mums has been formed by parents who want to see more equipment at the park in Love Lane and they are planning a day of fundraising there.

Mother-of-three Claire Bodiam, 38, of Castle Street, Ongar, said: “The facilities there could be so much better.

“Love Lane is such a great place and it’s not used to its full potential. The climbing frame is not suitable for small children and when you look at other parks, you think ‘we could have that’.”

Mother-of-one Liz May, 39, of Marden Ash, Ongar, said: “Rather than dictating what we want, we want to get the community and the kids involved and ask what they want to see.

“We wanted to commemorate the Olympics and this would be a legacy for our children.”

The group is organising a family fun day at the park, where they will ask for ideas on how it should be developed, on April 5 from 10am to 3pm.
