A CONTORTIONIST travelled from Leyton to Romania to appear in a Hollywood horror film.

Jennifer Keith was contacted out of the blue in October 2011 by the producers of The Devil Inside, who asked her to act as a stunt double for the main character.

The million-dollar budget film sees the main character, Isabella, attempting to find out what happened to her mother, who is said to have murdered three people while being exorcised.

And Miss Keith performs as Isabella herself is possessed by demons, who twist her body into various painful, and seemingly unnatural, shapes.

But for the former circus performer, aka Pixie Le Knot, placing her knees behind her head is an every day occurrence.

The 24-year-old of Millais Road has been a professional contortionist for three-and-a-half years and toured the UK with Zippo’s Circus.

She now teaches at a Bethnal Green school and performs in television adverts and at private events.

Miss Keith said: "I just got a call randomly from the film producers who wanted me to fly out to Romania for the shoot.

"I thought it was some scam or a joke, I couldn’t believe it. It was really exciting, I really enjoyed it. You get treated very well and I’d love to do another film."

"All my friends are doing normal jobs, it’s very strange to be doing this now - I had never shown any interest in that at school.

"Though I was always very flexible and I just pushed that in circus school to see how far I could go." When the film was released in America in January Miss Keith gained fans on Facebook and Twitter.

But despite the glamour of television and film shoots, Miss Keith gave a word of warning to anyone hoping to do something similar.

"I get little injuries all the time so it could just end at any point. Any performance could be my last," she said.
