AN exhibition on the era when police rode on bicycles and phoned the station in Tardis-style blue phone boxes will open later this month.

Drawing on extensive archive material from Essex Police and Epping Forest District Council, it will tell the story of how policing in the district has changed over the last 160 years.

As well as photographs, uniforms and equipment, the exhibition will feature a recreation of a police station in the 1980s and a child sized recreation of a blue police phone box.

The exhibition will be held in Epping Forest District Museum in Sun Street, Waltham Abbey, from March 17 to June 23.

The museum is open between 10am and 4pm from Monday to Friday and from 10am to 5pm on Saturdays and entry is free.
