YOUNG people from across the borough delighted a packed Albert Hall last night at the 19th biennial Redbridge School’s Choral Festival.

Accompanied by the Redbridge Music School Symphony Orchestra, more than 1,800 children treated the audience with renditions of music including special works to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the Olympic Games.

The young performers spent all afternoon on a final dress rehearsal before the big night and put on a flawless performance in the evening.

Head of Music at Beal High School, Rebecca Cantor played violin at the concert.

She said: "The kids worked so hard on this.

"It's my fifth or sixth time, and it's definitely one of the best I can remember."

Redbridge Council’s Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, Alan Weinberg, was at the concert.

He said: “It was unbelievably good.

“Every two years we say ‘How could this get any better?’ and every two years it does.

“There are massive stars who have never performed at the Albert Hall, so these young, talented people will never forget their big night.”
