LEYTON Orient will not be submitting an application for tenancy of the Olympic Stadium.

West Ham today confirmed that they are one of four bidders to have registered an interest in playing in Stratford.

But in a statement, Orient said: “With today marking the Olympic Park Legacy Company's deadline for applications from interested parties, the O's have decided not to pursue an interest in the stadium.”

The club submitted a bid last year, but lost out to West Ham whose own bid subsequently collapsed following complaints from Tottenham and Orient.

But O's chairman Barry Hearn said today: "The Club has taken extensive expert advice on the subject and it has become more and more clear throughout this process that the stadium does not offer a viable solution for football.

"We've had tours of the stadium ourselves, and anyone who has watched football from behind a track will know it is not a nice experience. There will be no avoiding that in this stadium.

“That isn't even taking the amount of additional conversion work the stadium will require for use as a regular football venue into consideration.

“Our conclusion is that the Olympic Stadium wouldn't be right for us as a football club post-games and that is why we have taken this decision today."
