A FAIR held in memory of a mum who died of cancer raised more than £1,000 for a charity supporting people with the disease.
More than 800 people came through the doors of the Easter-themed fair at Epping Leisure Centre in Hemnall Street on Saturday, raising £1,300 for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation.
The event, which included a children’s Easter bonnet competition, face-painting, a cake stall and beauty treatments for visitors, was held in memory of Michele Evans from North Weald, who died of lung cancer in 2010 aged 43.
Organiser Maxine Wade said: “It was so busy – from 11am to 4pm, there was a constant flow of people.
“The kids all loved it and the cake bake was incredibly popular.
“The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation is a very small charity, so it will make a big difference to them.”
