ARMED police closed a busy main road following reports that a man was seen brandishing a gun in the street.
Officers were called to Forest Road, Walthamstow, at around 7pm last night (Wednesday April 4) and were directed by witnesses to a flat at the Forest YMCA which the man was allegedly seen going into.
At 7.40pm they closed the road between the junctions with Farnan Avenue and Shernhall Street, before deciding to raid the flat.
A Met spokesman said inside police were "confronted by a number of people" but did not find any guns.
No-one was arrested and the road re-opened at around 8.30pm.
