CADETS spent the morning serving tea and chatting to elderly residents in a sheltered accommodation unit.
A group of 10 members of the Epping and North Weald Air Cadets visited the unit in Wheelers Farm Gardens in North Weald earlier this week.
They presented residents with a basket of fruit and, and chatted while playing cards.
Cadet Lauren Elder, who is 16 and organised the event, said: “All of us who went along got something out of it.
“We just thought it was important to give something back to the community. We really enjoyed talking to them and thought they were really fascinating. Some had relatives in the army and air force.
"We are looking forward to going back.”
The cadets will visit the residents again in June, when they will plant a tree to mark The Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
