CHEERLEADERS from the district triumphed at a regional competition.

Four teams from the Casablanca Cheerleading Squad, based in Alderton Hill, Loughton, claimed medals at the British Cheerleading Association Midlands Classic last weekend.

First prize was awarded to the senior co-ed group stunt team, while second place medals were won by the youth duo tumbling team and the senior co-ed cheerleader team. Coach Carli Bacon said: “We were very nervous and excited going into it.

“It was a long day, starting at 7am and ending at 11pm, because of all the teams that were competing.

“We are so proud of all the teams who won.

“The group stunt category involves the cheerleaders being thrown up into the air. They had to put in a lot of hard work to get to the level they reached.

“They were really shocked to win. The families in the audience couldn’t believe it. There was a lot of screaming and jumping.”
