ARTISTS interested in displaying their work in a festival later this year are invited to a party at a pub.

The Wanstead Art Trail kicks off in September with shops across Wanstead set to display local art for free in their windows.

Anyone with ties to Wanstead, Aldersbrook or Snaresbrook is welcome to put their work forward for inclusion in the event.

But to be be a part of it, artists must join the Wanstead Art Group by May 30.

You can sign up for the group at a party at the George pub on Wanstead High Street on May 21 at 7pm.

Last year 75 venues showed work by 200 artists.

Organisers say they expect this year’s event between September 15-30 to be even bigger.

Donna Mizzi, Art Group Wanstead chairperson, said: "This event allows the artists to show their work and for the public to enjoy it.

“Making it so accessible, takes the snobbery out of art."

The group also has a display in Wanstead Library, Spratt Hall Road until May 26.
