NEIGHBOURS of a town centre bar say they are considering moving home at the prospect of revellers pouring onto the streets as late as 3am.

People living near Luxe, on the corner of Loughton High Road and Forest Road, are furious at plans for it to sell alcohol until 2.30am on Friday and Saturday nights, closing at 3am, and 1.30am on Thursdays, closing at 2am.

Peter Couchman, 70, of Forest View Road, said: “Cars arrive here at midnight because all the other pubs have finished.

“They make a lot of noise at night. You have to shut all the windows.

“I think I will move – it’s bad.”

Doreen Reeve, 74, of nearby High Beech Road, said: “We’re so fed-up with it.

“It’s ruining our sleep every weekend and I’m thinking of moving. I’ve been here 35 years.”

She added that people returning to cars parked in High Beech Road late at night had vomited on the path in front of her home and urinated in alleyways and even on her front door in the past.

Epping Forest District Council, which is due to decide whether the club can extend its hours at a meeting on Tuesday, has received letters of objection from more than 15 residents, with one resident claiming he had broken up two fights outside his home.

Warren Dowd, 46, also of High Beech Road, said the bar’s current closing time of 1am was late enough for the area.

“I don’t think it should go any further,” he added. “It’s too close to residential streets.

“There’s a litter problem. I walk the dog to the shops in the mornings and there’s broken glass.

“I’m not against there being a place there, I just think there’s a limit to the patience the residents can have.”

In its previous incarnation as The Crystal Lounge, the bar was linked to a series of violent incidents and police were called to it 15 times between February 2010 and January last year.

But it was re-launched in March, with a glitzy opening ceremony attended by models and stars of The Only Way is Essex and its managers said they were aiming to attract a more up-market crowd.

No-one from Luxe was willing to comment.

The plans will be discussed during a meeting at the council’s Epping High Street offices from 10.30am on Tuesday (June 12).
