WORK has begun on building temporary accommodation for 4,000 troops and Olympic security staff on green belt land.
The Council granted Snoozebox Ltd permission to use the land in Hainault Forest Country Park in Fox Burrow Road, Chigwell back in April.
The company has begun work on installing hundreds of ‘containers’ which staff will sleep in during the Games.
Troops will be taken to Olympic venues from the park by coach, but civilian staff will use public transport.
Low level LED lighting will be used to prevent native bats from being disturbed.
The park will remain open to the public during the Games, with Snoozebox expected to have vacated the site by the end of October.
