A RECORD-BREAKING paralympian will join a team of 11 students, parents and teachers in an attempt to break the world's longest run on a treadmill.
Noel Thatcher, who set 10 world records at five separate running distances during six paralympic Games from 1984 to 2004, will join the team from Forest School, in College Place, Snaresbrook on July 4.
Mr Thatcher, who is registered blind, said: "I am massively excited to be part of the Forest team preparing to take on the World Record Challenge.
"We are under no illusions that it will be easy. We will be tested physically and mentally and pushed to our limits, but I am confident we can pull it off."
The record is currently held by a German team and stands at 423km.
Only one runner can be on the treadmill at once and a speed of 17.7kmph must be maintained for the record to stand.
The attempt will be opened by former West Ham striker Tony Cottee at midday.
The team are raising money for the Essex Disabled Sports Foundation and the Forest School Olympic Scholarship. To donate, visit the teams Just Giving page at justgiving.com/forestschoolworldrecordattempt
