An environmental group wants to turn Leytonstone into a giant allotment.

Inspired by a small northern village, Transition Leytonstone hopes the area could be covered by patches of green where fruit and vegetables are grown, free to be picked by passersby.

A woman who ran a similar scheme in Todmorden, a small West Yorkshire village, is due to give a talk on Sunday (June 24) about how she achieved it.

Pam Warhurst will speak at a Transition event at The Epicentre, in West Street, Leytonstone, between 4pm and 7pm.
