GUIDE dogs demonstrated the tricks of their trade at a family fun day.

Visitors to the Redbridge Guide Dog Training School on Saturday (June 16) were treated to amazing displays from hearing dogs, guide dogs and bomb detection dogs.

The open day at the kennels, in Findley Road, Woodford Green, is an annual event and a vital fund-raising tool for the school.

Raffles, face-painting, tombolas, a blind-folded walk and Stormtroopers all contributed to the fun.

Lorna Copland, branch and support group development manager at the school, said: "The event is all about getting people through the doors and showing them the vital work our guide dogs do.

"The Stormtroopers went down very well, which was great because it was a bit of a random idea.

"We are extremely pleased with how the day went."

The school hopes to have topped the money raised last year through various fundraising activities, which stood at £15,000.

Each guide dog begins training at the school from a few weeks old and is fully trained by the time they reach the age of two.
