A WOODFORD Green children's hospice is getting ready for a month of fundraising activity in July.

Haven House Children's Hospice will begin the month with a sponsored dog walk on July 1, on the green fields of Chingford Plain.

The next event will take place on July 19, when a ladies' charity fashion show has been organised for the hospice by Wardrobe Mistresses, in Epping High Street, at the Waltham Abbey Marriott Hotel.

But the highlight of the month will the hospice's summer fair on July 22, which will feature a bouncy castle, stalls, animals from Paradise Wildlife Park in Hertfordshire and a sponsored 3km walk in superhero fancy dress.

The fundraising month will end with an Olympic opening ceremony dinner on July 27 at Woodford Rugby Club in High Road, Woodford Green.

Guests will be invited to watch the Games' opening ceremony and tickets will include complimentary drinks, a barbecue and an auction.

Mike Palfreman, chief executive of the hospice, said: "At Haven House we strive to provide a varied and exciting programme of events and this summer is no exception.

"These events are key to the west Essex social scene and raise much needed funds for our work with life-limited and life-threatened children in the local area."
