THE government has reportedly decided to go ahead with proposals to locate missile launchers in Waltham Forest during the Olympics.
They include plans for military bases on the top of Fred Wigg Tower in Montague Road, Leytonstone, and the William Girling Reservoir on the Chingford and Enfield border.
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) previously said that the reservoir missiles would be "in Enfield", but residents in Waltham Way, Chingford, spotted the missile launchers being installed on their side of the waterway during a military exercise earlier this year.
Residents fear the military bases could be dangerous and make them a target.
The MoD denies the claims and says it will make homes in the area safer.
It says the missiles are necessary to protect the Games from potential airborne terrorist attacks.
Fred Wigg residents have taken the MoD to court over the issue and a hearing is due to be held next week.
