ORGANISERS have been forced to postpone the 25th annual Theydon Bois Donkey Derby after heavy rain left The Green waterlogged.

The decision was made on Tuesday (July 10) following bad weather in the area at the weekend.

The event had been due to take place on Sunday (July 15) and was expected to attract 5,000 people.

The Donkey Derby will now take place on September 23.

Committee chairman Phil Koczan said: "We were very disappointed having to postpone the Donkey Derby for the first time in 25 years.

"After discussions with the Corporation of London, we decided it was unavoidable, otherwise it would have caused irreparable damage to The Green."
