TWO separate victims had their mobile phones stolen from their homes on Saturday afternoon.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the distraction burglaries in Beechwood Park, South Woodford.

The first victim answered a knock at his front door at 12.25pm, but no-one was at the door and no-one could be seen in the street.

The victim, a 28-year-old man, had left his iPhone 4 on window ledge, near to the front door, and he had left the window open.

The mobile phone was discovered missing later in the day.

The second victim, a 37-year-old woman, went to the back of her property at roughly 2pm, to see a young girl standing by the back door, which had been left open.

The girl asked for sponsorship, but the victim declined to hand over any money.

After the girl had left, the victims Nokia, which had been sitting on a window ledge next to the victim's back door, was discovered missing.

The girl was described as having olive skin, aged approximately 12 years old, 5ft tall with very long brown hair and was wearing a brown skirt and cream top at the time.
