AN official Olympic coach driver has been released on bail, after he was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after colliding with a cyclist, yesterday.
The man in his mid-sixties was taken to a police station in east London and will return at a date in late August, pending further inquiries.
Police were called to the accident at 7.40pm last night at the junction of Ruckholt Road and the A12, close to the border of Waltham Forest and the Olympic Park.
The 28-year-old cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene at 8.14pm.
The driver of the double-decker Games bus was arrested at 9.30pm on suspician of causing death by dangerous driving.
The next of kin of the cyclist have been informed, but formal identification is yet to happen.
Date of a post mortem is yet to be fixed.
The collision is being investigated by the Met's Road Death Investigation Unit and inquiries continue.
A spokesman for Games organiser LOCOG said it was working with the police to establish what happened but had nothing further to add
