A SHOP assistant has been fined £100 for selling booze to an underage boy.
Budgens employee Sam Cooper, of Acorn Close in Chingford, must also pay £100 costs after letting a 16-year-old boy purchase a bottle of WKD Original Vodka Iron Brew.
After the sales assistant had completed the transaction in the outlet in Station Road in October last year, people in the shop revealed themselves as trading standards officers from Waltham Forest Council, and progressed the matter accordingly.
The case went to Thames Magistrates Court on July 9.
Cabinet member for the environment councillor Clyde Loakes said: "Let this operation serve as a warning to anyone working in shops selling alcohol – if you’re selling to minors we will find you and we will prosecute."
